Take the ACA Bridge Assessment Survey

Jon Anderson, President and CEO presented ACA’s “Build a Bridge” methodology at the 2011 Power-Gen Europe / Nuclear Power Exposition on June 9, 2011. “Build a Bridge” provides a context for discussion and actions to help organizations understand strengths and potential weaknesses between them and improved equipment reliability and plant performance.

This presentation provided participants with a recommendation to conduct an assessment for how to start the “Bridge” in their organization. The survey in this link provides ACA’s “Bridge assessment survey. Visitors to ACA’s website are welcome to take the survey. You can see results after taking the survey.

Recent Natural Disaster

Recent natural disasters in the world have brought devastation to many people, their lives, countries and our global industries. These disasters reinforce for us the need for equipment reliability and work management processes that are second to none so that when unplanned events occur, our assets are ready for them.

The first reaction from these types of disasters might be to focus performance improvements on the design of our assets. This is a right answer, but in parallel, owners and managers of physical assets should also focus on ensuring that the basic, day to day processes that support excellence in equipment reliability and plant performance are “second to none.”

This is where ACA excels. Ensuring that asset equipment will meet required levels of performance at the least life-cycle cost.

Weaknesses in these basic day to day processes will be magnified if equipment does not perform as required during external disasters we have little control over.

Build a Bridge

ACA’s “Build a Bridge” allow our customers to identify and improve those fundamental program elements to provide the greatest return on their investment.

One customer described “Build a Bridge” as containing “common sense” actions I know I should take but haven’t. ACA’s approach put these foundational elements into a format I can act on.

“Build a Bridge” is all about incremental change that helps customers achieve significant improvements in performance in a short period of time and at a low cost.

ACA Supports ANS UWC Conference Planning

American Nuclear Society Utility Working Conference 2011ACA is working with Work / Project Management and Engineering tracks to support the ANS Utility Working Conference & Vendor Technology Expo, August 14-17, 2011 at the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood, Florida.

ACA’s influence on conference is in the development of two workshops that include representatives from the organizations of Engineering, Work Management and Maintenance. These organizations are the ones that can solve the issues associated with too much work and too little time.

In the first workshop participants will identify their most significant issues associated with the identification, prioritization and performance of work.

In the second workshop participants will be presented with mini-change plans to eliminate the most urgent issues identified in workshop 1.

These plans will be modified based on workshop participant input and provided back for participants to use at their plant.
